Tattoo Machine and Guns – How Does It Work?

The tattoo gun, also known as the tattoo machine, is considered to be the most important tool in the tattoo industry. Tattoo machine and guns are the basic tools used to mark an ink deep within the skin. Its original inventor is no other than Thomas Edison. He copyrighted it in the United States in 1891. During that time, he called his newly created tool as the "autographic printer".

The tattooing machine and guns' original purpose was to engraved hard materials. However, Samuel O'Reilly modified Edison's invention in 1891 and transformed it into a tattoo machine. O'Reilly added a tube and a needle in it to serve as the tattoo gun's ink tank. The machine is motorized by a power supply and a supplementary foot pedal is used as an electric current regulator to set the speed of the needle.

Tattoo machine works by alternating its electromagnetic coils. This movement motions the needle bar up and down into the skin's pigment up to 50 - 100 times per second or approximately 3,000 punctures per minute. In fact, an average needle can penetrate around 1/8 of an inch below the skin. The machine's power comes from its electrically charged wires. The tattoo gun's components include the contact screw, armature spring, the frame, contact spring, and the armature bar.

Tattoo guns have advanced from being a single-coiled tattoo equipment into an electromagnetic-powered machine. However, the equipment's basic parts (and even its name) are different in the United States and Europe. The latter prefers to call it a "tattoo gun" while the former identifies it as a "tattoo machine". So when you buy a tattoo machine online, its basic parts and functions should be fully detailed. This in turn will become a hassle-free shopping for you. Moreover, online sold tattoo machines are guaranteed safe and effective to use. What more can you ask for?
